Our Background Journey
Jeremy and I met in 2011 when we were both working in operating theatres as graduate registered nurses.
We started messaging each other and eventually organised a ‘catch up’ one week and from there we quickly progressed to dating each other and not telling anyone at work about our relationship until several months had past. We have a decent age gap between us and decided to call our relationship quits for awhile but on the night of my 21st birthday celebrations we got back together and we’ve been together ever since.
In 2012 we were able to take extended leave and travel through several parts of Europe together with some less than ideal accomodation choices from some of Jeremy’s youth olympic camp acquaintances.
I camped a few times with my parents growing up but once Jeremy and I were together we took to regularly camping in a tent with an esky and a car thats suspension bottomed out every time we hit a bump!
2013 saw us purchase a house together, road trip to Melbourne with a 6mth old puppy, visit the snow and get engaged! From there we’ve gone from strength to strength with the odd speed bump or two along the way. We followed the natural progression all campers seem to take and purchased a rear fold camper trailer which allowed us to travel further and stay longer in more remote locations.
October 2014 saw us getting married at Coolum Beach in Qld - a place that will always hold a fond place in our hearts no matter where our travels take us in the future!
In August 2017 we took delivery of our new Jayco Swan Outback camper trailer just in time to get it all sorted and a few test run trips in before our first born Benji, arrived in October after a tough 12 months of fertility problems. Benji had his first camping trip at 10weeks of age and we all loved every minute of it of that trip to Inskip point.
18mths later in May 2019 Emily entered the world and our family was complete. By 9 weeks old Emily was experiencing her first camping trip down the Gold Coast and I must say getting up to feed a newborn overnight in winter is a very different experience to summer - thank goodness for powered sites and fan heaters!
Once my maternity leave ended in April 2020 I returned to work part time as a registered nurse and a few months later we ordered my dream car - a Ford Everest! Not long after this was ordered we started investigating hybrid caravans/ camper trailers and decided we would rather invest in a full off grid off road caravan. We had hoped that Jeremy’s Ford Ranger would continue to be our tow vehicle for this however, a quick trip over the weigh bridge at the local dump quickly burst this bubble! And so began the journey to find our new tow vehicle and caravan whilst planning for the trip of a lifetime around Australia!
